Editorial responsibility and its boundaries

In the (ideal) world of journalism, every journalist is bound by codes of ethics: respecting high professional journalistic standards, upholding and defending the right to freedom of expression, providing accurate information and correcting inaccuracies, differentiating between facts and opinions, respecting the right to privacy, not engaging/aiding proliferation of discriminatory/hate speech, etc. On this basis, the editors and editors in chief of a media are then equally responsible for making decisions on what content gets published and not, what type of prominence is given to each content, going back to the same values and principles, and therefore making editorial decisions by accepting editorial responsibility.
