Free MOOC on “Information and elections in the digital age” from September 19 to October 23
A free Massive open online course (MOOC) on “Information and elections in the digital era” will be launched from September 19 to October 23, at the initiative of UNESCO, the UNDP and the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas.
This five-week MOOC is meant for electoral experts, members of electoral commissions, civil society, the media, journalists, etc.
Organized into five modules, participants will learn standards of freedom of expression and will be exposed to recent experiences on how to address disinformation, misinformation, and hate speech that spread during electoral processes.
The five course topics are:
• The new information paradigm and elections
• Disinformation, misinformation, malinformation and hate speech
• The impact of disinformation misinformation, malinformation and hate speech within the electoral cycle and responses to tackle them,
• Preventive measures to confront harmful practices online during elections and regulatory measures
• Corrective measures through identification, fact-checking and monitoring measures;
.Registration will remain open for the duration of the MOOC. Participants are not required to log in at a specific time. Training materials including videos will be available for download and viewing at any time.
Those who successfully complete course requirements are eligible for a certificate of completion.
