New UN on line course to fight disinformation

The UN launched a new free online course as part of its efforts to fight disinformation, a global scourge.

The course, entitled “How to Fight Disinformation” provides users of the wikiHow platform with key tips on how to protect themselves from the deliberate and dangerous misinformation that has proliferated, in recent years, mainly on social medias.

Currently available in English, German, French and Russian, this course recommends users to check the information found on social networks using the techniques of crossing sources. It encourages also of redoubling vigilance regarding the information that make a strong reaction and follow-up by Internet users.

Since 2020, many program to improve citizens’ access to online information are organized, particularly on social Medias. These programs protect also the Internet users from misinformation and disinformation, which are damaging freedom expression and press freedom.
