The OIF summit also recommended developing “close collaboration” with companies active in the digital world to combat illegal content, terrorists and violent extremists online and hate, calling for the use of digital technologies as tools to prevent radicalization, violent extremism and hate speech.
The issue of the regulation of digital platforms was the focus of the 7th conference of the French-speaking Network of Media Regulators (REFRAM), held in Paris in early October. Members of the network called for “enhanced cooperation, within and with other multilateral networks, in the regulation of online content platforms.”
