
Renaud de la Brosse is full Professor of Journalism at the Department of Media and Journalism of Linnaeus University, Kalmar, Sweden. He also holds the position of Senior Lecturer at Reims University, France. He has been working on the issue of media and democracy in Africa for over 25 years. As such, he has conducted studies in the vast majority of countries on the continent, either as part of university research, or as a consultant for international organizations or NGOs.
Among his ongoing research interests, are an inventory of media regulation worldwide, the study of the supposed interdependence between media regulation and democratic governance (through case studies in Africa and Eastern Europe), the effects induced by the technological convergence of regulatory activities, and the current media and communication control within the strict framework of state sovereignty versus the international and transnational nature of information and communication regulation issues.
