REFRAM : French-speaking regulators call for strengthening cooperation with digital platforms
The French -speaking media regulator network (refram) called, from Paris, to strengthening cooperation, within them, as with other multilateral networks, in the field of online content platforms, stresses the Final declaration of the 7th Conference of the Refram, held on October 6 and 7 in the French capital.
The regulators of the audiovisual media of French -speaking countries also invited the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) to assert, during the next Francophonie summit in Tunisia, their common desire “to adapt audiovisual and digital regulation In French -speaking space with challenges raised by online platforms”.
At the end of the meeting, in which Meta France, Twitter-France and Google France took part, the participants affirmed their attachment to contribute “to common reflections and the sharing of experiences concerning the growth of the legal framework of regulation, and new tools and methods in terms of online content platform”.
The participants called, on this occasion, the digital platforms to:
- Further develop their human moderation capacities of online content in French, and in all the official languages of the countries of La Francophonie,
- Increase their transparency efforts on their recommendation and advertising systems,
- Open their data more to the world of research,
- Designate local interlocutors in the various countries or sub-regions concerned.
The meeting was particularly marked by the presence of the audiovisual and communication regulators regional networks from Central Africa (PRAC-CEEAC); Regulators of the West African Economic and Monetary Union and Guinea (Pra-Emoa-Guinea); African Communication Regulatory Authorities (RIARC), European regulators of audiovisual media services (ERGA), and the European regulatory Authorities (EPRA).
During this meeting Arcom (France) accessed to the president of the REFRAM. The National Audiovisual Regulatory Council (CNRA) has been elected Vice-Presid ent of the network.
