“Promote confidence: an imperative of media and information education”, theme of the World Week of the EMI 2022
World Media and Information Education Week (EMI), which is held from October 24 to 31, has been devoted this year to celebrate “the values of confidence and solidarity as the strengthen of social cohesion and Social advances for the common good”, underlines the report of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. António Guterres.
Celebrated each year, the EMI World Week and its two flagship events, the EMI conference and intercultural dialogue and the Youth Agenda Forum, is a major opportunity to take stock of the commitments made by the world leaders in matters of “media and information education for all”.
According to UNESCO, the EMI 2022 World Week, welcomed this year by Nigeria, focuses on confidence and solidarity with regard to people, the media, digital platforms, governments, the private sector and non-governmental organizations. It highlights certain future actions linked to media education and information during the past year, as well as the way in which media and information education contributes to consolidate confidence and fighting distrust.
