Switzerland: Radio is listened by three quarters via DAB+ or Internet
A recent study indicates that listening to the radio isdone at three quarters via DAB+ or Internet and young people are among the main listeners, reports Ofcom, the Swiss regulator.
According to this study, the car is the most privileged place to listen to digital radio, with an average of 62%. In fact, it has an average of 75 minutes of radio out of 100 in digital mode, according to the survey carried out by the Digital Migration Working Group (“GT DigiMig”), presented on August 2022 at Swiss radio Days.
The average digital use of radio in Switzerland has increased by 26 points over the past six years, going from 49% in the fall of 2015 to 75% in spring of 2022, while the use of FM decreased by half, from 51% to 25%. Only 13% of listeners listen to the radio exclusively on FM. The Internet represents approximately a third and the DAB+ about 41%. This latest radio reception technology is therefore by far the most popular in Switzerland.
